This piece is a bit of an evolution for me in my abstract work. I have been obsessed with abstracts for the past two or three years, and this painting is both exciting and inspiring to me. Every time I look at it, I see new things! It offers endless opportunity to get lost in contemplation, mediation, reflection. To me this is what makes a great painting. There are some surprisingly fresh and free marks that just happened… a new sense of freedom to be my authentic self while at the easel.

Getting to Know Jenn

Jenn Williamson expertly evokes the scenery of British Columbia in her soft abstract landscapes. She utilizes defining horizontal and vertical strokes, coupled with a skillful handling of color, to create significant depth in each piece. Her paintings, though abstracted, clearly convey the atmospheric attributes of the scene–rain, wind, clouds, fog. Jenn’s muted color palette transports the viewer to the Canadian west coast, as if to be standing before the marshlands and ocean right alongside the artist.
