I recently moved after living in the same house for 11 years. It was a few long months of packing up and letting go. I loved that house. Now we live near the woods, and the stand of trees that borders our backyard appeals to me greatly. The way the afternoon light filters through and gives it an eerie glow. If you look through long enough I swear you see figures coming and going through the line of trees. I spend many afternoons walking the paths, gathering mental strength and peace of mind. This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Laura

It's the messy things in life that attract Laura Carter. In a literal sense, she enjoys making a mess with paint by using her hands and fingers in each work. She finds that most of her best work springs from difficult times. Her current work explores a range of emotions and facial expressions through portraits. In the end, she hopes that her art will look and feel like an emotional story or journey.
