Artist Krzysztof Iwin painted this piece as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. A young man sits at his window wearing a prisoner's uniform and a face mask over his eyes. He is accompanied by the symbolic elements of a free bird sitting on the windowsill, and a pet cat hiding in the shadows. "This is a reference to uncritical, blind faith in media coverage, propaganda and manipulation transmitted on TV," explains Krzysztof.
Krzysztof Iwin is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland. His body of work is largely figurative with elements of surrealism. Showing frozen fragments of a reality that does not exist, Krzysztof attempts to capture the menacing, sometimes macabre beauty of the search for meaning.
