A friend asked me what inspired to paint an owl. I smirked and said, "OutKast." They had a song with that title. To some people owls symbolize wisdom, to others it symbolizes death, but the Hootie Hoo owl is something entirely different. When you hear "hootie hoo" it's a warning that the police have been called and your raucous party is going to end abruptly.

Getting to Know Patricia

Patricia Freeman lives in Oklahoma City with her husband. When asked why she paints, Patricia replied, "I paint because I have to." The process, peeling the plastic off a new canvas to smelling the paint, lifts her to a state of pure joy.
