This minimal piece, with its long, narrow format, is an abstracted riff on dappled sunlight as it filters through the forest trees. The greens and earth tones are enlivened with touches of turquoise sky peeking through. All are used transparently as well as opaquely giving the work depth. This work is on three separate gallery wrapped canvases that each measure 48"x6".
Karen’s abstract paintings are best described as an exploration in color. Often monochromatic, her work is a meditative and serene improvisation in the movement and depth of paint. Whether executed in earthy shades or vibrant tones, each painting evokes a different mood for the viewer’s contemplation. Karen’s body of work gives a gentle nod to the Color Field movement of the 20th Century, grounding her portfolio solidly within the evolving story of contemporary art.
