A figure with long flowing green hair gently bends over her discovery of a rare flower that blooms once a year. Artist Krzysztof Iwin paints this piece refering to Slavic beliefs. "It is a mythical, legendary flower that is supposed to bloom once a year during the summer solstice, the shortest night of the year," explains Krzysztof. "The finder was to provide wealth and abundance, which made their search a permanent element of the celebration of the Slavic festival of Kupala."

Krzysztof Iwin

Gdansk, Poland

Krzysztof Iwin is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland. His body of work is largely figurative with elements of surrealism. Showing frozen fragments of a reality that does not exist, Krzysztof attempts to capture the menacing, sometimes macabre beauty of the search for meaning.

This is one of the funniest/most tragic paintings I've ever seen. I have literally been laughing out loud. I'm a psychotherapist who sometimes works with couples, and I have seen this scene many times in my office.
