This is another piece from the Color Bomb series that riffs on the landscape and seasons. As the title suggests, I was finishing up this piece in late July. But much of the work happened during the peak of summer when the colors were hot and wild. At least for me, though I can sense when I look at this work that summer was on the wane and the longer shadows of fall were on the way.

Getting to Know Kurt

Pennsylvania-based painter Kurt Herrmann creates brightly colored, non-representational artwork from his mountainside studio. His work celebrates color as a source of freedom and openness. Kurt’s paintings avoid conveying specific messages or agendas and relish in energetic colors. Kurt’s vivid color palette gives his work a positivity that is meant to inspire joy in his viewers. He is influenced by the bright colors found in nature, such as the pink of a flower petal or the red of a sunburn.
