"The Coolness of Pacific Dusk" is part of a series that was inspired by visits to the north central coast of California. The wind and tide propel the sunset-tinged surf over igneous outcroppings called sea stacks. The frothy water propels itself across every cranny in the rock formation, leaving a colorful tracery. This acrylic brush painting on a gallery wrapped canvas has finished sides, painted a quiet blue-green that harmonizes with the cool colors of the painting. The work is wired and ready to hang.

Getting to Know Jakki

Jakki Kouffman manipulates paint in much the same way the the whirling desert wind shapes the land around her. The Sante Fe landscape painter integrates Fauvist accents with a great eye for color, all of which shepherds the viewer toward a vivid daydream of howling New Mexico winds. Her long-term series of acrylics is called “Rivers, Mountains and Sea,” and it portrays the idea of resistance and change in the land through bold colors, striking textures and sweeping gestures.
