This painting is part of Lisa Carney's signature GeoFlora series, a collection of abstracted botanical paintings where she uses drip and splash techniques to suggest plant life, like wildflower fields and sea corals. The work features a limited color palette of blues and greens. "This painting is an intuitive abstract interpretation of ornamental grasses in the garden," says Lisa.

Getting to Know Lisa

Lisa Carney draws her inspiration from the earth's layers and the history they hold. The drips, splashes, scrapes and scratches in her art happen spontaneously and come together to create a cohesive whole. She began to craft a more organic feel in her works after noticing the texture in her works resembled plant roots. She currently lives in Canada and admires artists like Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman.
