Who can resist a sunset? I am often inspired by the brilliance and contrast of the silhouetted trees and buildings when the sun sets. Although the cross in the middle of the canvas holds the composition together, this is not a stagnant piece. The placement of the contrasting colors creates movement and dynamism. This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges. It comes varnished and ready to hang.

Getting to Know Robert

After painting for years out of the family room of his home, Robert took the plunge and built an addition to his home for proper studio space. He works in two very different styles, producing both color-blocked abstracts and realist landscapes. Robert begins each painting by creating a thumbnail value sketch to establish a composition. Each piece reflects his mood, but whether energetic or placid, the colors must always be harmonious. Robert’s technique uses mostly brushes with the occasional addition of palette knives to create subtle surface texture.
