Using drips, splatters, and expressionist brushwork, artist Lisa Carney offers an abstract view of wildflowers in the countryside. Soft drips of faint gray emulate young trees behind a veil of mist. Ethereal shades of green and turquoise dance with accents of orange and ecru. This painting is part of Lisa's signature GeroFlora series.
Lisa Carney draws her inspiration from the earth's layers and the history they hold. The drips, splashes, scrapes and scratches in her art happen spontaneously and come together to create a cohesive whole. She began to craft a more organic feel in her works after noticing the texture in her works resembled plant roots. She currently lives in Canada and admires artists like Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman.
