I am highly affected by the changing of the seasons. This painting was created in the bursting of green that welcomes spring when everything still feels alive and tamed. This piece is on masonite board and will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Shawna

Shawna Gilmore calls herself a professional daydreamer. When her children aren’t waking her from her wanderings, she paints to explore the edges of wonder and reality. Her paintings weave back and forth between naturalistic investigations and surreal dreamlike scenarios. She loves to combine these two seemingly separate images to create a body of work that is “like a curio cabinet of experiences.” One prominent theme in her work is the female face or form, often representing a surrogate for herself. You can find Shawna caring for her twin children, discussing the finer aspects of life with her verbally talented husband, going for a walk or reading a good book.
