An intimate yet dynamic still life of a bowl of soup accompanied by a slender glass vase of freshly cut flowers. Glenn builds a welcoming and engaging scene with the arrangement of many intersecting geometric and organic shapes, and the warm muted tones. "My purpose for this painting was to make something very textural, calming, minimal and warm," he explains. "I've enjoyed keeping the painting in my view lately."

Glenn Quist is a full-time artist in Elk River, Minnesota, near the Twin Cities metropolitan area. His elongated modernist figures appear in scenes derived from both memory and imagination with a strong emphasis on color and composition. Glenn considers his paintings to be "somewhere between dreams and reality." Opposed to telling stories directly, he prefers to present his work and leave the interpretation to the viewer.
