I used both geometric and organic brushstrokes to create the blossoms. There is a strong sense of movement in this piece, a dance between shape and color. The painting is on gallery wrapped canvas with white edges. It is varnished and ready to hang.

Colette Wirz Nauke gathers inspiration from her surroundings and memories and fuses them with her imagination. She has been greatly influenced by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, especially techniques used by Monet, Cezanne and Bonnard. She tries to use similar approaches in her own work. Colette spends her summer traveling throughout the US and abroad in search of her next muse. When she's not painting, she enjoys visiting art museums and going to parks in search of cherry blossoms in bloom. She currently lives in New York.
