About this artwork

Books are a source of pleasure and contemplation as well as source material for my art-making. When a shelf of books 'showed up' I happily embraced the motif, shares artist Robin Okun. Predominantly in blue, a nude figure of a woman emerges seated in front of a bookcase as she reads in the dark. Bright tones of pink and green peek through the underpainting creating a translucent glow that adds vibrance to the composition.
