Diana Elena Chelaru
Tappan, New York
Artist Diana Chelaru paints colorful expressionist interpretations of human emotion. “Art is a means of communication, it is how I express my thoughts, hopes, regrets, and joys,” says Diana. She experiments with working on large-scale paintings using the visual language of form, lines, and color to create compositions that exist only in her imagination. Growing up in Romania, she draws inspiration from Byzantine mosaics as well as Gustav Klimt’s subject matter and use of decorative patterns. She received her BFA in Painting from George Enescu Art University and finished her MA in Art History from Queens College. Diana simply goes with the flow rather than dwelling on the formulaic process. It all depends on how and what she feels at the moment. She indulges in music while she creates her work.

- L RESSLERDiana, thank you for creating such a beautiful piece of work that now hangs in our living room. It is the first original painting we have bought and we couldn't be more thrilled. This beautiful work is now the centerpiece of our living room. The vibrant texture and the abstract form are a powerful and unique combination! Masterful. We couldn't be happier. Thank you Diana.

Dear Diana- perfect and now time to buy it- Cheers, Frank
Hi Frank, Yes, the painting is ready to hang. I added the wire on the back so you don't have to do anything else. Best regards, Diana
Hi Diana Elena- I very much like your work entitled "In the Spotlight" but just have one question- you say it is ready to hang. Does that mean with a wire as I dont want to add anything to be able to hang it. Please let me know- Thanks, Frank
John - Thank you for your comment. Yes, my work is influenced by Klimt's work. Over the years my style was influenced by the Byzantine art's abstract and anti-naturalistic character, Van Gogh's bold and symbolic colors and Klimt's use of decorative patterns and his subject matter.
Fallen Angels 3. A very original painting sometimes reminiscent of Gustav Klimt. Surrealistic elements (the sleeper, the "parachute" trees), late evening colours, dreamlike, a "dimension apart". All interesting and eye-catching to make the viewer wonder. - John Wilson
Thank you so much Larry! Nothing makes me happier then knowing you and your wife enjoy the painting.

Dear Mr Iceton - I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I had a full week. I had the opening for a group show here in New York and I am getting ready for a personal show at the end of August. I am really happy to know that you enjoy The Gossipers and if you would like to know more about the painting (I usually have a “back story” for my works)or in general about my art work please let me know. Thank you again for taking the time in getting back to me. Best regards, Diana Chelaru
I love it, when I opend the package and took my first look it was as if we were old friends, you are very talented Diana.
Ms. Garcia - Thank you so much for you appreciation! It means a lot to me. It makes me feel so good to know that once again my work speaks to the viewer. In my work I always emphasize on the color as a significant and unifying element and I always try to find a delicate balance between reality and ideas. Most of my art depicts the human form; I believe that human body is a universal symbol and can communicate a whole variety emotion. Thank you again! Best wishes, Diana

Hi Diana, I love your artwork on the site! I love the sense of movement in the more vibrant pieces and even the more somber, contemplative pieces have a flow of energy. How did you develop your unique style?
