Part of Jane Robinson's signature series of jazz-inspired modernist compositions. "While painting this piece, I dug out an old album of Sade, who has always been a favorite artist of mine," says Jane. "One of the songs on the album is 'No Ordinary Love.' The vibrant shades of red in this piece really spoke to me as passionate painting." Jane created a companion piece titled "Color and Passion," which could be hung with this work.

Getting to Know Jane

Jane Robinson is a Michigan native who uses fluid acrylic paints to make expressionist, abstract artwork inspired by jazz music. She is particularly influenced by early pioneers of the genre, including John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, and Sonny Clarke. The movement, rhythm, instruments and “color” of the music opens a portal to a world that Robinson captures on canvas. The artist experiments with complex textures–created through layering various mediums–to encourage curiosity in the viewer about what lies beneath. She believes art is an incredible journey that provides endless possibilities to stimulate the senses. Jane subscribes to the concept that art, like jazz, transcends the barriers of geography, culture, and faith.
