Abstract artwork created with organic, energetic brushwork evocative of flowers in bloom. A reflection of the happiness that the artist finds in nature. Orange, violet and white forms with pops of blue, red and green. "As I work and step back, my goal is to create a cohesive arrangement throughout the artwork's evolution," says Sheila. "It is when I step back that an image and subject will reveal itself to me. This painting dug into my concern about our environment and the dwindling bee population."

Getting to Know Sheila

Sheila Grabarsky is an abstract painter living and working on the New Jersey shore. She is known for her bold and expressive gestural brushstrokes, juxtaposition of contrasting colors, and spontaneity in her paintings. Sheila’s animated paintings have been compared to those of Vasily Kandinsky, the Russian painter and art theorist referred to as “the father of abstraction.” And, like Kandinsky, the essence of inner beauty and the potency of the human spirit are key factors in her art. Fun fact: Sheila’s work is featured in a 2016 movie called American Pastoral. The film, starring Ewan McGregor and Dakota Fanning, is set in post-war New York during the flourishing abstract expressionism movement.
