This piece is from my series "Time Spent" in which I explore the connection between actions and emotions.  The painting is about music, harmonies, and rhythm.  It is inspired loosely by the base clef symbol and is multilayered with a lot of texture.  This painting is on gallery wrapped canvas with painted edges and is finished with a satin varnish.  It is wired to hang.

Getting to Know Marion

Because Marion Wood does not paint in a literal form, she refers to memory, feelings, and personal experience for inspiration. She is inspired by the stillness and silence of winter, the excitement of a city, and the flowing of a river. The feelings associated with these locations are captured through abstraction, movement, and color. In her current paintings, she does not use paintbrushes; instead, she spreads, scrapes, transfers or throws paint on to the canvas. There is a dynamic energy in the way that the shapes intersect and collide; you can imagine the physicality that it requires to create each piece. Although Marion does not plan her pieces before she begins, the final result feels balanced and deliberate. Marion’s contemporary expression conveys the rich and stimulating world around her through a mix of geometric and organic forms.
