An abstracted crowd of figures in deep blues and greens. Artist Patrick Duffy conveys a sense of motion through groups moving forward in a river-like fashion. Nautical themes in his work are influenced by Patrick's childhood spent in a small fishing culture on the ocean, as well as his passion for environmental and physical sciences. "I use painting to express the puzzles, curiosities and theories that challenge and shape my sense of identity," he says.

Patrick Duffy

Austin, Texas

Artist Patrick Duffy creates multi-scaled compositions that seek to realize patterns through the usage of process, form, and color. He creates abstract environments of rhythm and fluidity, allowing each piece to shape itself into unexpected patterns and structures. Transformation comes to be the overarching theme of his work, he builds an illusory depth of real space in his pieces. Patrick studied at Pratt Institute and received a BFA in Painting. However, art has always been a part of his life as his family works within creative environments. “It gets stuck in your brain and you start to subconsciously make decisions based on those influences,” says Patrick. He rents a studio at 56 Bogart St. Brooklyn, N.Y., a commercial space for working artists and galleries. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, reading, and, brewing his own beer.
