The concept of this piece is a reflection of past and present experiences while visiting my old neighborhood in New Jersey. This painting has about 14 layers of acrylic paint and was constantly scraped to bring the lower colors to the top, giving it dimension and sense of depth.

Nicholas Foschi’s abstract paintings are bold and optimistic. He seeks to bring energy and movement to the canvas and achieves this through contrasting colors and varying brushstrokes. The pieces appear simple, but up close they are complex, with many delicate and deliberate markings. Like watching clouds shift in the sky, the abstraction can conjure different configurations depending on how you look at it. The colors, tangerine and shades of blue, are bright and solid, but not quite primary. His compositions and colors keep you looking into the work for something, searching, feeling on the edge of the familiar and novel.
