Jessica JH Roller
Oakwood, Ohio
A few months after Jessica JH Roller and her husband were married, they adopted two young Siamese cats from a shelter -- Tony and Larry. Jessica quickly fell deeply in love with the kittens and says the cats changed her. "They opened my eyes - I started to notice birds, trees, water, color, everything. It was as if the artist inside had been unleashed.” Jessica uses bold colors and primitive linework to create whimsical, expressive portraits. She intends to capture real or imagined moments that are both common and extraordinary.

"Custody Battle" literally commands the room. She, they, are so intense and though provoking. I had looked at her in the gallery for what seems like forever and finally one day bought her because I knew I would be terribly disappointed if someone else snapped her up before I got off my duff. I am astounded at just how striking it is in person and that background color matches one of the predominant colors in my wood rug. Wow. Good job lady!

We have this hanging above our bed in the middle of the canopy. It is whimsical and perfect - we both love it and it brings the room together!
This new artwork will not be unveiled here until my dragon-loving husband's birthday arrives this summer. It is a wonderful and whimsical piece and I cannot wait to see my darling's reaction when he opens it. Thank you Jessica JH Roller, I love the work and I'm sure that my "hubbie" will too!
Hi I am so happy I found this! I purchased several items from you a few years ago at an art fair in Paducah, KY. I have the bunny loaves, Titus the owl and Birdy Ugly. I just love your work! I feel like it just makes people happy!!
oh wait, that was 2014!!!! Still, I am sorry I never replied, I just missed it, no newborn baby to excuse me last year!
Thank you so much! I am so sorry it took me so long to respond, I totally missed message. I had a baby boy on May 2 so I had a lot going on, I am sure you understand. I appreciate your kind words and I am so grateful that I am able to bring you and your son joy with my work!
Bringing very much joy into the home for my son and I, thank you for your gift and that you share this with us all.
Thank you so much, Shirley, for your kind words! I feel so grateful that I am able to create art that you can enjoy so much!

Little Siamese Sugarcube and her mouse are truly a bright and classy looking group in, on and of fantastic colors. You make very enjoyable art! The gold is so gold and the green so perfect a match for it. The blue eyes. Oh my. Nice kitty!
Thank you for giving Siamese Sugarcube a home and giving your kitty a friend! You should be getting her any day now! My kitties that are part siamese were found in car lot, abandoned by their mama. They were nursed back to health by a sweet lady and we adopted them 6 months later, we named them Tony and Larry. That was 10.5 years ago and that is when all my painting began! "Sugarcube", my cat character, was most inspired by Tony because he is so cool, so balanced, but still so sweet and cuddly. Larry is equally as great, but he is a special kind of cat that I have had a hard time reducing into an abstracted form, I have only drawn him more realistically.
I have my eye on Siamese Sugarcube With Mouse, 2013. My cat is Lily. Her eyes are as blue as Sugarcube's. She is this purebred cat someone downtown put on the street when a new boyfriend moved in. Every now and then I tell her how far she has come since her street-walking days. She is the most delightful, well mannered little cat. And I am the best cat momma she will ever have. I don't know how old she is but we are growing old together and she needs a wall-hanging from you in her window seat room. Make sense? I thought so.
Thank you, Thank you!
I just love Donkey's and I think they always feel better with a bird around! Thank you so much!
Remember Red Bird on Blue? Well, Red Bird on Blue is keeping Three Donkeys company now. At my house! I am so jazzed. These are such fun. You really do something unique that really works. I am so glad you do this wonderful artwork. Thank you!

Hi Jessica, I was thrilled when I found your work. It's very seldom that I run across art that is so unique and that I just LOVE!! I'm amazed at every piece. I'm a painter as well & the quirkiness that we both share is truly a joy. I'll be watching your work for many years to come. Thank you! jill I have your newsletter coming to me.
You are so welcome and Thank you! It was a fun painting to create. Dogs and Squirrels seem so natural together. I just saw a dog earlier this week at the playground that reminded me of Bubba- a lab mix with short little legs and very loved. This one was mixed with a terrier so she had a "beard" too, which was very funny looking and I think would make a great painting as well:)
Hi Jessica - I love my Bubba the Dog! You captured his spirit on canvas perfectly. Thanks for listening and for creating something that makes me smile every time I look at it! It's exactly what i wanted. -Gina

Mary Kay- Thank you for giving me the opportunity to capture your adorable pug! I had so much fun studying the breed and really gained an appreciation for their supreme cuteness! I loved how it turned out and was especially happy with the color. Thank you again! Best, Jessica
Jessica - My painting arrived today (Mary Kay's Pug). I love it! It captures everything I love about pugs - rock solid and unusual in one little package - and it is also a lovely piece of art I will be happy to display. Thank you for taking my wishes into account in this commissioned piece while creating one of your uniquely-you paintings. - Mary Kay
