Morning and afternoon storms can be gloriously fleeting. Dark storm clouds are often surrounded by crisp white clouds and highlighted with rays of golden sunshine. This painting is evocative of those fleeting moments. The piece was created using multiple raw and controlled pours of transparent and saturated acrylic paint on canvas to achieve a layered depth.
Huntington Beach, California
From childhood on, Dorothy was always eager about painting. Her grandfather encouraged her to graduate from a finger-painting enthusiast to a more mature and serious artist. Dorothy’s approach to her abstract artwork entails pouring paint in transparent layers to create sweeping colors across the canvas. Regardless, she manages to stay true to her childhood roots: “To this day, my clothes and hands always reflect the colors I am working with,” says Dorothy. “And I once again rediscovered the joys of finger-painting with my children!”
