A collage of gestural marks and vivid color inspired by the beautiful sights and curvy streets of Montmartre. Expressionist brushwork, bright summer palette, structures resembling the layered architecture of the hillside district.
Jeffrey Tover is an abstract artist based in the Bay Area who creates paintings that are colorful, multilayered, and gestural. The haphazardness of the marks in his compositions engage the viewer’s eye as it moves through every inch of the canvas. His work is greatly influenced by expressionist painters Cy Twombly, Joan Mitchell and Willem de Kooning, and shares similar gestural qualities to their work. Through his art, Jeffrey strives to achieve uniqueness in each painting; every piece takes on its own individual persona and influences his viewers in different ways.
