This painting is among the first of a new series titled Shapes of Things to Come. It reflects an exploration of the layers of experience that create the past, yet inform the future at the same time. I get excited when I think about all the possibilities that become apparent through the mining of the layers. This painting is on a cradled wood panel with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Gwen

A fascination with the division of space drives the work of Gwen Gunter. When approaching a new work, she uses both her intuition and a specific spatial vision. After creating a compositional sketch, she adds color and texture. Then she simply lets the painting guide her. Though she doesn't consider herself a huge science buff, she enjoys listening to physicists talk about quantum mechanics and string theory while she works. Fun fact: during her free time, you can usually find her taking care of the animals in her "mini ranch."
