Symbols, lots of symbols. I created these symbols after a trip to California when I saw the foam leaving the sand and racing back to the water on the beach. The feeling that God was talking to us in a very quiet and unique way struck me profoundly. When I returned home, I created a set of symbols and have reused them in each of these large abstract works.

Getting to Know Pamela

Pamela’s lively body of abstract paintings tangibly exudes a spacious joy. Forms and colors dance across her wood panels. Repeated shapes create a mysterious yet delightful visual language. Texture is important to the artist as well. “The scratches and scrapes along the journey of making a piece of my artwork reveal so much depth and beauty,” says Pamela. She mixes oil and cold wax to complete each piece, and sometimes uses acrylic paint as an under layer. She works out of her home studio accompanied by her Havanese dog.
