This painting came from a dream. I was missing my mother, having just come from the local ER and in pain. I fell asleep and dreamt of a large lotus tree pointing upwards towards the sky and there was my mother in a chariot coming to me! I HAD to paint this dream to preserve it!

The piece is on gallery wrapped canvas and the painting continues around the edges.  It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Sheila

Sheila Grabarsky is an abstract painter living and working on the New Jersey shore. She is known for her bold and expressive gestural brushstrokes, juxtaposition of contrasting colors, and spontaneity in her paintings. Sheila’s animated paintings have been compared to those of Vasily Kandinsky, the Russian painter and art theorist referred to as “the father of abstraction.” And, like Kandinsky, the essence of inner beauty and the potency of the human spirit are key factors in her art. Fun fact: Sheila’s work is featured in a 2016 movie called American Pastoral. The film, starring Ewan McGregor and Dakota Fanning, is set in post-war New York during the flourishing abstract expressionism movement.
