"This little boy in a blue shirt and old well-worn pants always dreamed of his own snare," Krzysztof Iwin explains of this portrait. "One day, in the old house across the street, he found a trunk with various antiques in the attic. There was a small snare in this trunk, very dirty and dusty. The boy cleaned the drum and from then on he played it every day. When he grew up, he became a member of the military band and performed marching songs at parade drill shows."
Krzysztof Iwin is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland. His body of work is largely figurative with elements of surrealism. Showing frozen fragments of a reality that does not exist, Krzysztof attempts to capture the menacing, sometimes macabre beauty of the search for meaning.
