This painting is from my GeoFlora series. In this series of floral abstract paintings, I use drip and splash techniques to suggest plant life and sea corals.  I painted it on paper then mounted it on a 1.5 inch deep wood panel.

Getting to Know Lisa

Lisa Carney draws her inspiration from the earth’s layers and the history they hold. The drips, splashes, scrapes and scratches in her art happen spontaneously and come together to create a cohesive whole. She began to craft a more organic feel in her works after noticing the texture in her works resembled plant roots. She currently lives in Canada and admires artists like Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman.
