This is a painting from my new series, "The Shapes of Things to Come."  I am exploring the relationship of shape and line in an environment of vivid color.  I am finding the shapes dance and mingle on their own as I watch a relationship between them emerge. I was inspired by the joy of my daily art practice where I endeavor to be present in the moment. The piece is on cradled wood panel with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Gwen

A fascination with the division of space drives the work of Gwen Gunter. When approaching a new work, she uses both her intuition and a specific spatial vision. After creating a compositional sketch, she adds color and texture. Then she simply lets the painting guide her. Though she doesn't consider herself a huge science buff, she enjoys listening to physicists talk about quantum mechanics and string theory while she works. Fun fact: during her free time, you can usually find her taking care of the animals in her "mini ranch."
