A fresh palette of green, turquoise and peach over black splashed across the canvas in suggestion of spring growth. Part of Lisa Carney's signature GeoFlora series, a collection of abstracted botanical paintings where she uses drip and splatter techniques to suggest plant life, like wildflower fields and sea corals.
Lisa Carney draws her inspiration from the earth's layers and the history they hold. The drips, splashes, scrapes and scratches in her art happen spontaneously and come together to create a cohesive whole. She began to craft a more organic feel in her works after noticing the texture in her works resembled plant roots. She currently lives in Canada and admires artists like Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman.
