This painting reflects my inspiration found in nature and architecture on my trip to France. I focused on texture, various patterns and mark making within this piece. Earth colors fill the painting with hints of vibrant layers of paint. There are whimsical brush strokes and movement throughout this landscape. This is the third painting in my series of "French Countryside" paintings.
Astoria, New York
Colette Wirz Nauke gathers inspiration from her surroundings and memories and fuses them with her imagination. She has been greatly influenced by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, especially techniques used by Monet, Cezanne and Bonnard. She tries to use similar approaches in her own work. Colette spends her summer traveling throughout the US and abroad in search of her next muse. When she's not painting, she enjoys visiting art museums and going to parks in search of cherry blossoms in bloom. She currently lives in New York.
