This painting captures the beauty of the French countryside. I was inspired by the peaceful and vivid colors found in this quaint French village. I depicted the countryside with loose and expressive brushstrokes.

There is a sense of light shining within all of this artwork. I layered warm and cool colors in the piece. I experimented with depicting nature and architecture in this painting.

Getting to Know Colette

Colette Wirz Nauke gathers inspiration from her surroundings and memories and fuses them with her imagination. She has been greatly influenced by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, especially techniques used by Monet, Cezanne and Bonnard. She tries to use similar approaches in her own work. Colette spends her summer traveling throughout the US and abroad in search of her next muse. When she's not painting, she enjoys visiting art museums and going to parks in search of cherry blossoms in bloom. She currently lives in New York.
