Colette's latest series of paintings draws inspiration from living in New York for many years. "Soft pastel colors mix with earth tones in this piece," she says. "The windy lines give a playful sentiment, and the simplistic details in the mark making describe the buildings." Colette layered the composition, highlighting neighborhood brownstones, modern glass and steel skyscrapers and the rich summer foliage that lines the streets.

Colette Wirz Nauke gathers inspiration from her surroundings and memories and fuses them with her imagination. She has been greatly influenced by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, especially techniques used by Monet, Cezanne and Bonnard. She tries to use similar approaches in her own work. Colette spends her summer traveling throughout the US and abroad in search of her next muse. When she's not painting, she enjoys visiting art museums and going to parks in search of cherry blossoms in bloom. She currently lives in New York.
