This work is part of the symbols series as I worked to push myself to become more expansive. Creating larger symbols and allowing more space in the artwork. Artwork has notes of blush and pink, cream, burgundy, and soft greens with the green symbols smaller and juxtaposed against the looser cream and blush organic. Artwork is finished with varnish, then an isolation coat of gel is applied to the work. Once that is dry, it is sanded slightly and finished with a thin layer of wax.

Getting to Know Pamela

Pamela’s lively body of abstract paintings tangibly exudes a spacious joy. Forms and colors dance across her wood panels. Repeated shapes create a mysterious yet delightful visual language. Texture is important to the artist as well. “The scratches and scrapes along the journey of making a piece of my artwork reveal so much depth and beauty,” says Pamela. She mixes oil and cold wax to complete each piece, and sometimes uses acrylic paint as an under layer. She works out of her home studio accompanied by her Havanese dog.
