"I love the glow of the sky before the night falls," shares artist Rebecca Klementovich. Pastel blues and pinks fill the sky right before twilight. Rebecca captures the scene en plein air deep in the woods of a magical fairy trail on Monhegan Island in Maine. "In the distance is the small glow of some sort of magic," says Rebecca. "This trail is famous for all of the fairy houses. There are people scattered all over the trail. While I was painting this, I was being attacked by mosquitoes by the dozen!"

Rebecca Klementovich

Somersworth, New Hampshire

Artist Rebecca Klementovich paints expressionist views of the New England landscape. Merging her lifelong interest in fashion, she co-founded the group Femme Fatales of the North. "We are painting in gowns on the tops of mountains and slapping paint on canvases," says Rebecca. "We are an example of who the northern women are as artists." Her colorful palette and gestural style draw influence from her long career in the fashion world. Rebecca studied fashion illustration at FIT in New York and worked as a textile designer and art director for over twenty years. After leaving New York, she moved to northern New Hampshire near Mount Washington. "The mountains are nostalgic and lyrical, and this greatly affected my landscapes." Today, she spends many hours observing the fields, forest and sky, and the changing seasons.

We love our new winter scene artwork by Rebecca Klementovich entitled "Snowdream." So perfect to have hanging in our living room during the holiday season and winter. Decided it deserved a frame, so having that done now.

MEET THE FEMME FATALES The Femme Fatales of the North are abstract painters Rebecca Klementovich and Kristen Pobatschnig, partnering Abstract Art with the the Local New England landscape. The two artists are from northern New Hampshire, and they enjoy showing their work in non-traditional ways. By hosting shows outdoors in unique settings, they bring the viewer outside of traditional gallery space to see the art in their natural habitat, amongst the trees, grass and snow. By pairing contemporary art with the outdoors, they offer an outdoor gallery experience to be enjoyed by art goers and non-art goers alike. They are known for promoting the presence of women in the Arts with their photographic endeavors. This fun collaboration helped me develop a deeper understanding of uniting women, nature, and art.
