My mind was set to use shades of yellow with black. As I was adding graphite marks and many layers of paint, scraping in areas to bring through interesting shapes and colors, I felt the painting taking on a dreamy appearance. Hence, the name 'Dream Catcher' came to mind. The painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished yellow sides. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Jodi

Seventeen years ago, Jodi Dann seized the opportunity to become a full-time painter. Today, her paintings read like hazy memories of imagined faraway places. The compositions are abstract, but possess strong architectural elements, recalling bridges, arches, and doorways. Each piece retains an overall sense of place without prescribing a location, allowing the viewer to form an individualized connection with the work. Jodi paints from her cozy studio on her property in Oregon while listening to jazz or French music. She doesn’t feel the need to strive for perfection in her work. “Life isn’t perfect,” says Jodi. “Why force a painting to be?”
