I grew up fishing with my dad. I have been painting trout for a few years now but I have also been fascinated by the tiny flies we use to catch them. I started to dream up a way to paint them in my style. These flies have life, color, and seem to have a mind of their own. This is my first large painting in this series, and the Frank Sinatra title is so apropos! The piece is on gallery wrapped canvas and the painting continues around the sides. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Tracy

Tracy Miller could paint animals in the normal shades of color, but why follow the norm when vivid hues are so fun? Her paintings start out in a most unexpected way, painting an all-over colored tone to start. Twisting and turning, her underpainting begins to evolve from an abstract to a visual haiku of black lines and swirling colors. She wants people to see that animals have their place in this world as the unique creatures that they are. She feels the bright colors and expressions in their faces help people connect to them in a very primal way. Much like her animals, Tracy loves to be in the outdoors; hiking is one of her favorite activities. She is also a fan of road trips, “especially taking back roads where you can discover unique out-of-the-way experiences,” she says. Fun fact: Years ago when Tracy was still a fiber artist, she was featured on HGTV's Crafters Coast to Coast.
