This painting is part of a series entitled "Nature Forms." This piece was painted in the autumn when caterpillars are preparing their chrysalises for developing into butterflies or moths. I live in a wooded area and came across many of these cocoons on my daily walks.

Getting to Know Peg

Peg Belcastro paints non-objective expressionist pieces using vivid colors and energetic lines. She is inspired by the lush forests and valleys that surround her home in rural Pennsylvania, as well as by the vibrant Alaskan wilderness where she paints every summer. Working intuitively as she paints, she responds to each gestural brushstroke with the next one, allowing every painting to follow its own path to completion. Peg enjoys the elements of surprise in her art, and she hopes that her work will be appreciated for the process as well as for the finished piece.
