Blue and white Chinese porcelain has long been a favorite type of ceramics.  For many years I have used Chinese porcelains in my still life paintings.  The open wrapping is a metaphor for my delight when I find a porcelain jar or vase which I particularly like.

"China Revealed" is an acrylic painting on archival heavyweight paper and will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Tom

Thomas Miller turns his canvas into a time machine, bridging past and present. Inspired by still life and portrait paintings of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, Thomas mixes in touches of Modern Art. As time and technology march forward, Thomas sees art as the enduring expression of our shared human experience. Ever the history buff, Thomas enjoys referencing the great artists in his paintings - reinventing classic pieces by Vermeer or Ingres. Fun fact: Thomas spent 15 years traveling the world with the Mermaid Theatre as a designer and performer.
