A celestial abstract painting in layers of blues, purple, gray and white blended to create pools of light and shadow. Artist Dorothy Dunn continually observes the ever-changing light and color of the sky and ocean. "Does this painting represent currents in water or in the clouds above, or perhaps both?" she questions. "In fact, it is what the light, our mood, and our memories help us see." The piece was created using multiple raw and controlled pours of transparent and saturated acrylic paint on the canvas to achieve a layered depth. The painting can be hung either horizontally or vertically.

From childhood on, Dorothy was always eager about painting. Her grandfather encouraged her to graduate from a finger-painting enthusiast to a more mature and serious artist. Dorothy’s approach to her abstract artwork entails pouring paint in transparent layers to create sweeping colors across the canvas. Regardless, she manages to stay true to her childhood roots: “To this day, my clothes and hands always reflect the colors I am working with,” says Dorothy. “And I once again rediscovered the joys of finger-painting with my children!”
