Artist Robert Pennor paints a temperate landscape of a golden aspen forest. The cool tones of the trees contrast with the sunrise's warmth. He puts the relationship and harmony of the colors as the main focal point. Robert applies paint with various brushes and sea sponges to achieve a coarse consistency in the native pasture.

After painting for years out of the family room of his home, Robert took the plunge and built an addition to his home for proper studio space. He works in two very different styles, producing both color-blocked abstracts and realist landscapes. Robert begins each painting by creating a thumbnail value sketch to establish a composition. Each piece reflects his mood, but whether energetic or placid, the colors must always be harmonious. Robert’s technique uses mostly brushes with the occasional addition of palette knives to create subtle surface texture.
