Part of artist Lisa Carney's Aqua series inspired by the Chaleur Bay in Canada where she grew up. Lisa layered a rich palette of blues, greens, purple and white to build her abstract representation of the gentle waves across the water. She says she kept a midcentury aesthetic in mind as she painted.
This piece is a diptych, composed of two separate panels each measuring 16" x 16".
Lisa Carney draws her inspiration from the earth's layers and the history they hold. The drips, splashes, scrapes and scratches in her art happen spontaneously and come together to create a cohesive whole. She began to craft a more organic feel in her works after noticing the texture in her works resembled plant roots. She currently lives in Canada and admires artists like Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman.
