The title of this painting is from a quote by Rainer Maria Rilke, "All the soarings of my mind begin in my blood." I painted this piece while painting in Alaska for the summer. I was inspired to allow my body to just move with brush in hand; this piece is the result of releasing any constraints and reveling in total freedom. The quote spoke to me as a way to represent the feelings I had while painting this piece.

Getting to Know Peg

Peg Belcastro paints non-objective expressionist pieces using vivid colors and energetic lines. She is inspired by the lush forests and valleys that surround her home in rural Pennsylvania, as well as by the vibrant Alaskan wilderness where she paints every summer. Working intuitively as she paints, she responds to each gestural brushstroke with the next one, allowing every painting to follow its own path to completion. Peg enjoys the elements of surprise in her art, and she hopes that her work will be appreciated for the process as well as for the finished piece.
