While having breakfast in Chicago, I overheard two young ladies behind me discussing a job interview. The specific language they used reminded me of a quote from Barbara Stanwyck, which I applied to this pseudo-portrait.

Getting to Know Mark

Mark sources his inspiration from old family photographs, found images, or pictures he shoots himself. He arranges the selected elements, sometimes with a bit of embellishment, in an attempt to create a narrative that is relatable to the viewer. Mark aims to establish a dialogue based on common experiences, fears, ideas, and memories. “It should remind you of something,” the artist says of his paintings. Viewers of different ages and demographics can all identify with the feelings of nostalgia evoked by Mark’s work.
