Liz Mamorsky
San Francisco, California

Liz Mamorsky doesn't struggle with a shortage of ideas - just time. The busy San Franciscan paints, sculpts and speaks (you might have heard dulcet tones in a commercial or video game). While her paintings may evoke feelings of Haight-Ashbury in the 60s, Liz is an avid collector of modern PC and electronic detritus, which she uses to build found object sculptures. Her paintings and mixed media sculptures are funny, endearing and so representative of Bay Area art. Her paintings immediately grab you with their edge and charm, asking you to pause and explore the nuances. They draw you in and have staying power long after you've stop looking.

Comments About This Piece

Tarzhay is one of my Analog Artbots, a reclaimed materials wall sculpture. It's fabricated from vintage circuit boards, electronic detritus and googley eyes mounted on 1/2" pine, using screws, metal mending plates and angle irons. The nose is a doorstop that lifts all the way up if desired, exposing the target mouth. The title, Tarzhay, (a popular nickname for Target) is for the store where the character could have purchased this stunning pant suit. The sides are finished with matte black tape. It is wired and ready to hang.

Sculpture refers to visual art objects that are 3-dimensional. Sculpture can be made with a wide range of materials, such as clay, wood, bronze, or found objects. The medium can also be constructed and assembled in a variety of ways, such as, molding, welding and carving.

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
