About this artwork

I spent an afternoon squirting inks on paper. Then I pressed leaves into the inks, added saran wrap and let it dry. This resulted in the lovely texture and color mixes you see in this piece. My next step was to figure out what the piece wanted to be. Once I decided on towhees and leaves, I painted over the ink with watercolor and took the piece as far as I could before adding more ink at the end for the opaque areas of the background.
