The hand-pulled pair of prints composing this diptych are each one-of-a-kind. Printed on BFK Rives Printmaking Paper with uneven Deckle Edge on short sides.
KimonoMyHouse is based on prints and ghost prints of Kraft paper segments creating prints and ghost prints of folds and crevices, a tissue like quality with the sensibility of a photographic negative akin to an x-ray. As backgrounds they recalled swirling kimonos in which a face and figure emerged. Undergoing a sequence of additional layering of smaller shapes and punchy colors the dancers in the kimonos emerged - bringing to mind the old Sparks album 'Kimono My House.' As a final touch I superimposed a fine ink line and a bolder outline drawn by needle and chisel marker onto the plates playing off the intricate folds.
