Hi everyone! Surround Me, the painting purchased by T Clary, is about a kind of peace in chaos. It can be interpreted as giving into defeat and asking for it to finally engulf completely, or as a cry for help towards renewel. The chaos comes from the blurred background of mixing hues. The red part of the simplified tree branch is the healthy body while the black branch represents creeping decay/defeat. I certainly hope you are all enjoying your work and finding your own meanings within it. Thanks for your purchases!!

Thank you for your amazing comments! Some of these paintings are certainly harder for me to say goodbye to and send off to their new homes! Janet, Waterbloom was one of my very favorites. When I heard she sold, I got goosebumps! I am so happy you are enjoying her and seeing beyond the surface of the painting. I think you would love my monotype watercolor screenprints. They have beautiful subtleties and the whiteness of the paper gives them so much inner light. Thank you all for supporting the growing artists of Ugallery's site!

Lover's Rant

Hi Rachel, I love your work. It’s hard for me to afford original art but I found myself going to the Ugallery site to click on your work to just look at it. Your paintings are very evocative for me. They are not “in your face” or judgmental, they just seem honest. I find them subtle and real. I hope you paint more because my walls are looking like they need even more Guests’! I must say the painting “Waterbloom” is outrageously great. I figure you saw Monet’s Water lilies. When I went to Paris, I saw Monet’s work. We had to wait in line to get in and everyone was chatting and making noise. When we finally got into the museum and saw Water Lilies, a hush fell over the crowd. We sat down and drank it in. I feel that way about your painting. I can just watch it. It’s profound. Thank you for it. Janet.

"Fog Descending though the Lemon-Yellow Light" is a sensual piece. To make the original print, Rachel focused on the shape of the picture plane - in this case, a horizontal piece of paper - and closely studied color interactions. Rachel calls the yellow in this piece a "lemon-yellow; it feels sour and leans towards green." The violet, meanwhile, "is deep and dark but softly undulates into a passionate wine color."

"Fog Descending though the Lemon-Yellow Light" is a 30" x 22" one-of-a-kind monoprint created using a hybrid of watercolor painting and screenprinting. It is available framed.
