'EyeExam' is part of my album "MiscPrints", one of a group of three. This project began with a set of propeller shaped foam dish dividers and continues my experimentation with upcycling packaging material by subjecting it to the printing process. "EyeExam" is the first run of the group recognizable by the intensity of the colors. During the first run the foam shapes initially came out a little blurry, which spun off the idea of compromised eye sight and the piece developed around that theme. I custom designed and cut the paper templates for the glasses in varying shapes, the lenses and the monocle. The big label and small tags are added retail readymades that extend the ophthalmological theme; as do the letters and numbers that were ink transferred into the image, explicitly conjuring up and eye exam. This would make a great collection starter for anyone who wears, loves, prescribes or distributes glasses.
